My opinion of Tim changed over time, due to his actions and postings and some real life events that won this skeptic over. His actions regarding, and one especially brilliant post over, the Spongetech affair, are worthy of a trader journalism research and ethics award. You can read that post here:

Often misunderstood, Sykes is a refreshing breath of fresh air in an industry (finance and the stock market) where deceit and even fraud is all too common. This is especially true in the seedy world of penny stocking.

He can make an ugly first impression, and can be a bit brusque, but that is just how he comes across superficially to the untrained eye. He grows on you with time, if you get past the casual observations and research his work over the past 2 years online. I do not believe the haters, or the Elite Trader http://www.elitetrader.com/ snobs, Tim is obstinately authentic to the core. You can decide for yourself by investigating his admirable record.

As the reaction to Tim on the Yahoo message boards in this very case demonstrates, which I noted in my review, the weakest and most susceptible parts of human nature can be a brutal downfall for investors.

Still, you must admire Sykes for trying, against the tide, to change opinions of the gullible and to call out transparency problems and dishonesty where he feels he sees it in this field. He does this at some real personal risk, yet seems determined to change minds one at a time if necessary to make an impact.
