Trade review 1-19-11

I got a few plays correct today...

Hits:

KUN

Gap up soon went green to red about 30 minutes in, then continued even, gentle fading into the close, which was down by over 1% today.

IBCP

Opening on a gap down, an early bounce never really quite greened, and this played out perfectly. Nice even selling followed, trading under the opening price and lasting into the close, which was red by over 14% today.

PLUG

The first 5 minute noise candle was green, then it printed the hod and began panicking back under a buck for the shorting cue, also going green to red. It stayed negative to a degree all day, closing red by 10% today. This is an example of only fading weakness, as I outlined last night. I had been equally biased here in direction. While they did breach a dollar, it was quickly proven to be a false break out, obvious to most.

Misses:

CWNR

Large gap up nevertheless faked out shorts when it fell red in the afternoon, then came storming back green and held on to that condition into the close, which was positive by over 9% today. Usually one of the most reliable of trading signals, this method failed today. Which proves there is no such thing as a sure thing.

Push:

COOL

Huge gap down negated any sane short entry, though scalpers probably even banked as it fell even more, before bouncing. It closed off of the highs, gradually tapering off to finish down 20% today. They missed revenue estimates announced before the bell. The only play was a flat stance by the time it opened.

RTEC

A push as this opened nominally green at the hod, and fell at once, quickly falling red and continuing to sell off the first hour. A bounce failed to go green, much less challenge 10 so a long was never possible at any time. The decay picked up speed into the close, which was down by nearly 4% today.

CHGI

A win on paper as this closed negative, albeit by less than 1% today. Choppy, though. It opened flat, mildly advanced, fell red, hugged the flat line and went positive, then fell red for good into the close. I'll take a push. Most shorts who held to then probably banked, since it never greened above the previous day hod.
