Trade review 10-31-11

I got a few picks right on Halloween...

An easy win for incher longs, as this gap up slowly rose all day. Once it overtook the open and noise candle high after a mild correction, it was a buy. Weakened late but still greened by close to 8% today.

Once this fell under the flat line early on, it was a short. It closed negative by over 4.5% and a likely modest win given the probable entry point. The gap down open moved essentially sideways then up, when it clearly failed near lunch. Early or late entries probably all won if they stuck around.

Longs could have been faked out here when a big gap down greened and soon took out the previous session high. That did not last, as it fell back to the flat line and then under, closing weakly down nearly 3% today.

This only fell mildly on the noise candle, then advanced. Greening on the next candle, retraces essentially held the flat line and the low of the greening candle even. Shorts had no play. Closed up over 4% today.

A gap down no play which never triggered and did not fill the gap. It rose early on but failed well short of the flat line, then resumed decay the rest of the way. Closed south almost 6.5% today.

Few longs would have been fooled here as this acted weakly and indecisive from the open, with a gap down falling initially. It finally greened near lunch but failed to make more new annual highs and the stay above the flat line was brief. It headed back under and decayed the rest of way, closing south by over 4.5% today.

A gap down advanced on the noise candle, the next opened well down below the open of the initial one, preventing shorts from entering safely. A slow rise followed that even greened, before a weak close ended affairs south by a bit more than 1% today.

My off table picks worked out well enough. BIOF soared early on and often, closing up over 31.5 % today. ZLCS shook off early weakness to go red to green mid morning and never looked back, closing up over 15.5% today. The price action on both of these plays was fairly predictable once it got going.

Daily record: W-2 L-1-P-4
