Trade review 1-13-12

I got a pick correct on Friday...

Hits:

BDSI

This worked like a charm for shorts when a gap up at the hod fell from the noise candle. It kept reddening and under the flat line gently all session, en route to a down close of over 6.5% on Friday.

Misses:

JMBA

A fake out loss for shorts when a gap down gradually fell out of the gate, moving under the opening price level after the noise candle. It lasted until lunch whereupon it gradually climbed, eventually greening. This took out the upper stop level by a few cents, and it slowly fell back closer to the flat line, but the damage was done. Ended north by around 1% or so on Friday.

Push:

CCIH

This fell Friday but could not be exploited by shorts. The noise candle printed the lod. It gradually rose the remainder and also moved sideways near the flat line. Closed red by nearly 1.5% on Friday. A no play push.

TAYD

There was no 2nd day for longs, but at least they were unlikely to have been faked out. A big gap up discouraged those, and it fell from the hod at once, and kept doing so, so they would have kept out. It soon fell under the flat line, then moved sideways all day into the close near it, south by over 1% on Friday.

AONE

Another push when a flat open 2 cents under the hod moved sideways just over the flat line and under the trigger, which it equaled for a brief spell but could not take out. Then about 30 minutes in, it dived under the flat line hard and for good, removing any long options. It tried to recover, but could not retake the flat line, and it meandered into the finish, down by over 4% on Friday. A failed B/O textbook style.

SPWR

Another gap down that never triggered for longs. It fell hard on the noise candle, then rose to the flat line and just over, and at once fell back under, this time for good. Soon it traveled sideways the rest of the way, closing south by over 3% on Friday.

PACD

Again a no play push when a clear gap down fell out of the gate. It bottomed in 30 minutes, then gradually rose to and just over the flat line. But longs had no play as it did not meet the specified trigger price, and it only got near there at the close. Ended up nearly 1% on Friday.

My off record picks HSOL FBN PACB did not fare well. Each of them finished red. One daily doji printed, the others did not advance despite good set ups on paper.
