Trade review 12-30-11

I got a play correct on Friday...

Hits:

DCTH

It opened near the hod on a clear gap down and fell nicely out of the gate. That redness was so convincing shorts had to be licking their chops. I know I was. It continued to redden for anyone shorting it, and several did, closing negative by nearly 12% on Friday. I wish I had been in EOD Thursday on the initial weakness.

Misses:

DXCM

A fake out loss for longs when a gap down advanced early, going red to green with our trigger. But it was short lived, decaying back down and under the flat line in short order. It stayed negative the rest of the way, though it moved sideways the remainder, closing south by almost 1% on Friday.

PRXI

A fake out loss for shorts when a 1 cent gap up fell on the noise candle, then continued to fall after it and under the opening price level. It immediately switched course and slowly rose to the flat line after drawing sellers in. It hugged that most of the way until a strong closed greened it by over 4.5% on Friday.

Push:

RAM

This fell on the noise candle, so shorts were contemplating it. The next one closed above its open and the follow up was a doji print. This was followed by another green candle with slow movement up. Shorts had no obvious play and once it hit the flat line it soon broke over for good. A big spike happened late morning as well. Closed up over 10% on a no play push.

CPY

A no play push when gap down failed to trigger for longs. It steadily reddened gradually in the morning, before going sideways most of the remainder. It closed on a higher note, but still south by over 4% on Friday.

LOV

Another no play push for longs when a flat open fell early, neither greening or making new annual highs, before moving sideways the rest of the way essentially. It closed down by over 0.5% on Friday.

FBN

A push for longs after commissions after a gap down that moved a bit south and sideways out of the box went red to green. A strong buy signal, this drifted above and below the flat line all day until a strong close ended it up over 1.5% on Friday. It looks like a win on paper but it was either very slight or a break even result.

My off record pick AMEL did break through 0.16 for a big gain of over 27.5% on Friday. I said keep flat on that, though. A gap up at the lod rose gradually all day.
