Trade review 12-15-10

I got a few plays right today...

Hits:

SMCE

Perfect fade that dropped like a rock from near the bell, which turned out to be a great short. Supernovae no more, it closed down by over 51% today. The gap up proved to be the hod, no less.

ETRM

Another easy money play, but more boring, was the gentle decline from the gun of this stock, which opened a 2 cent gap down. This price action continued into the close, which was red by nearly 4.5% today.

TNGS

The show went on again on this incher in the style of other artificial movers. Not sure who is behind this one, if anybody, but it sure seems familiar. Aside from some early noise, it crept up all day into the close, which was green again, this time by over 6.5% on the day. An entry could easily have been avoided until it went green.

BSDM

Aside from the useless first 5 minute candle, this played out both directions well, especially the short. It had been up after hours, but decayed in pre-market trading to open below the previous close. It soon spiked, yielding a long scalp entry. Better, though, was the fade entry once we went green to red. This gradual fall kept up all day into the close, which was down by nearly 13.5% today.

Misses:

CYTK

The anticipated bounce failed. It actually went lower, but held 2 so aside from the pennies from a 2.10 breach, it was no dice even for a short. I saw this mostly as a long, though. Support failed, in theory. Red finish by over 2% today deserves a loss result.

SLTM

It did go a nice red to green reasonably early, but it failed to hold up until the end. Opening on a clear gap down, this also had a mid session fake out below the opening price, before eventually fading into the close, which was negative by 6% today. Arguably a push, but choppy enough and direction flawed enough to lose.

Push:

MCBC

A push as this opened flat at the hod, and immediately tanked and tapered out the rest of the way, en route to a red finish of over 6.5% today. I said to remain flat on such price action, as I saw it as a long play only. We never got a red to green move to act upon.

My unofficial pick TDCP panned out perfectly, opening on a gap up near the hod and collapsing soon after the bell. It went green to red and stayed that way, fading evenly into the close, which was red by nearly 32%
