Trade review 2-11-11

I got some of these plays correct...

Hits:

GWAY

This began to dump out of the gate after a clear gap down. Naturally this was not a great shorting point due to the gapper, but after it tried to just green it immediately slammed back red and kept going, providing shorts with an entry that was confirmed after it took out the opening price again. It kept fading all day into the close, finishing south by over 36.5% on Friday.

SCI

Nice red to green long entry. A modest gap down continued to nominally decay briefly, then shot up positive, yielding an entry north. It kept going a while, then moved sideways much of the remainder, closing up by over 2.5% on Friday.

Misses:

TA

A less honest blogger would claim this as a winning pick, but not me. Despite closing red by over 2% on Friday, most likely only those closing in the last 5 minutes banked. Choppy whipsaw action predominated. A gap down went green, then pulled back under. About 2 hours until close it greened again, then fell into the finish. A new lod was only printed in the last candle.

Push:

ADXDF

This non-play opened on a clear gap down at he lod and went up from the start, denying shorts a play. Closed up over 5% on Friday.

KV.A and KV.B

The lod printed in the first useless 5 minute noise candle, and on the second fixture it opened at the lod. Both advanced from that point, denying shorts an entry. Closed green by no less than 6.5% on Friday.

SCSS

Large gap down discouraged an entry. This was the lod and after it bolted up on the initial noise candle, it retreated a bit, advanced a few hours and ended sideways in the afternoon, essentially going nowhere and closing green by the tiniest of margins. Obviously more yearly highs never surfaced.

RICK

This is arguably a win, but more critically a push. Opening on a big gap up, it closed lower than it opened, but still green by around 4% due to the gapper. The lod was printed in the first useless 5 minute noise candle. A scalp out of the gate as suggested might have worked, but not as well as I had hoped. A speedy exit would have been needed. After the initial candle, it rose most of the day but began to weaken in the last 2 hours, when it consistently closed under the opening price level.
