Trade review 7-19-11

I got some of them right today...

Hits:

VALV

A nominal win, but a victory nevertheless. After a gap up, some early rising quickly gave way to a penetration of the flat line. A short entry on that probably banked despite the strong close to end down over 1.5% today.

MDW

A gap up and near crap, this began falling from the get go and yielded a short on the early flat line cross. It kept decaying, finishing sideways down over 6.5% today.

Misses:

CVV

A fake out loss as longs may have entered on more annual highs. These did not last, and it decayed the remainder soon after. Closed positive by a hair but under the open and most probable entry points.

Push:

DOGO

A gap up at the lod just moved up from the bell, never giving shorts a chance. It peaked in an hour, decaying from there and finishing off of the lows, but still positive by almost 29% today. A no play.

CGA

Another no play as this gap up at the hod and crap never gave longs a chance. Low volume selling but a failed break out ensued as this ended south by over 4% today.

CDTI

Big gap up negated any safe play, especially the potential long. After a pull back and an early new high, it seemed to be on track but finished below the open but green by over 9% due to the gapper. A no play.

CRVP

The hod printed on the noise candle and it was modestly green. The 2nd candle did not advance at all. The next one printed under the flat line, and it gradually decayed most of the day. Not likely any longs were faked out, an obvious no play. Most bad entries can be avoided by following rules and price action cues, like here.
