Trade review 9-12-11

I got some of them right today...

Hits:

SPEX

A gap down at the hod crapped at once. An easy with for shorts as this continued to fall and closed down over 22% today.

HNSN

This triggered about 30 minutes in, and while it was a wild ride that returned nominally negative, the initial lows held so it likely stopped nobody out holding a long. A strong finish ended up nearly 4.5% today.

ANX

A textbook win when this triggered early and kept going all day. Closed up over 13% today for longs.

GRO

An easy win for shorts on a gap down near the hod that tanked most of the day. It closed off of the lows and decently but below the likely entry point. Red finish of 8% today.

Misses:

HLLXF

A clear gap up began to fill early, then faked out shorts when it fell under the open and the previous close. It closed strong in the afternoon to end up close to 1% but lower than it opened, due to the gapper.

CONN

This fooled shorts when it fell red about 50 minutes in, then it returned to the flat line and faded again. Some would have banked if they got out before the last 1.5 hours, but it closed strong to end down only nominally but likely above the entry point for those fading.

Push:

RIC

A no play when this gap down near the hod fell at once. It closed off of the lows but still south by nearly 7% today. Longs never had a shot as the gap failed to close, much less green.

My off record pick, CIIC finished unchanged when a big gap down began to fill from the start, which continued all day. It was an obvious no play for shorts, though it began to fall early as well, due to the gapper.
