Trade review 3-10-11

I got some of these things right today...

Hits:

CXLT

This advanced early but during lunch it morning panic style dumped on volume nicely. It traded sideways into the close, but still ended up negative by over 21.5% today.

BMOD

The hod printed in the initial 5 minute noise candle. Then it began to seriously weaken near lunch, although it essentially held the flat line much of the way on bounces. It closed weak, to finish the day down over 4.5%

Misses:

GPR

We got nothing out of an early bounce except a fake out of sorts. True, it was on the initial noisy 5 minute candle, but it seemed like we were on our way. The next printed candle gapped down to open and kept reddening, trapping any optimists. Now red, a long attempt to close the gap failed. It closed off of the lows, but still negative by over 3% today.

Push:

XPRT

I want to think this was a win since it fell nearly 22% today, but cannot due to how it played out. A big foreboding gap down opened things up, which was hard to trade. It quickly bounced and fell again, eventually closing somewhat off of the lows but still negative, due to the gapper. I suspect most of my readers kept flat.

ATRN

This just spiked up out of the gate, never weakening to give shorts a chance. After much early strength, it gradually declined and closed weak but never closed the gap, finishing green by nearly 26% today. No play.

LWSN

Technically this is a "win" since it finished positive and even went red to green to do it. But that took a long time, and by the time it crossed the flat line, most watchers probably died of boredom. Slow, dreary recovery from a gap down open to fill ended with an up close of a bit less than 1 half of 1 percent.

SHZ

Shorts had little to do except nothing with the big gap down that remained at the open. Not biting on the initial 5 minute noise candle was good advice, though it predictably finished off of the lows and higher than it opened and in the same direction as the opener stick. No big panic down or spike, just gradual rising. Just a no play.

My unofficial pick, LYLP went according to script. Opening a bit down, it hugged near the flat line for the first hour, then dived hard. Sideways trading ensued, which eventually decayed downward into the close, a negative one by over 70% today. My timing was perfect here, but it was too cheap to include officially.
